Brigham Young fell to 8-6 on the season last Saturday with a 90-81 defeat at San Diego State. T.J. Haws paced the Cougars with 18 points on 7-of-13 shooting plus 4-of-4 at the free throw line. He also dished out five assists and pulled down two rebounds. Jahshire Hardnett scored 12 points in 20 minutes, while Yoeli Childs had 11 points plus six boards and two dimes. Luke Worthington added 11 points and five caroms off the bench. Brigham Young trailed 52-38 at halftime and was unable to recover. MSU notches eighth straight win
The Bulldogs improved to 11-1 on the season last Saturday as they held off visiting Wright State by a count of 67-63. Quinndary Weatherspoon paced Mississippi State with 14 points on 5-of-11 shooting to go with six rebounds and two assists. Aric Holman tallied 12 points, nine rebounds, four steals and four blocked shots. Lamar Peters contributed 11 points, six assists and three steals. Tyson Carter added 10 points and three boards. The Bulldogs shot 25-of-51 from the floor, 7-of-21 from 3-point range and 10-of-15 from the charity stripe. Mississippi State led 35-24 at halftime before holding off a second-half rally by the Raiders.
College Basketball Betting Trends
The Cougars are 1-5 ATS in their last six Saturday games. Brigham Young is 1-7 ATS in its last eight road games.
The Bulldogs are 4-0 ATS in their last four games versus a team with a winning overall record. Mississippi State is 26-12-1 ATS in its last 39 games following an ATS loss.
The Bulldogs have defeated a couple top-50 teams at home and its only blemish is a 72-67 setback against Arizona State in a neutral setting. Three of the six BYU losses are to teams well outside the top 100, so I have a hard time buying into this team in a tough road setting. I'm taking MSU here to continue its surprisingly strong non-conference campaign.
