The fourth-ranked Duke Blue Devils are big favorites at home for an early start time today versus the Brown Bears. Is a bet on Duke the best way to go with the wide spread?

Bears fall at Red Storm

Brown suffered an 82-71 defeat 11 days ago at St. John's to drop to 5-5 overall and 1-4 on the road. The Bears trailed 41-24 at halftime on their way to the defeat. Brandon Anderson led Brown with 25 points on 10-of-24 shooting including 3-of-9 from 3-point range plus 2-of-4 at the free throw line. He also notched five rebounds and three assists. Joshua Howard tallied 15 points, seven boards and two steals. Tamenang Choh added 10 points, 11 caroms and six assists.

Blue Devils roll past Terriers

Duke cruised to an 86-57 win at home nine days ago versus Wofford to improve to 10-1 overall and 5-1 at home. Joey Baker paced the Blue Devils with 22 points off the bench in 18 minutes of action on 6-of-11 shooting including 5-of-7 from 3-point distance plus 5-of-5 at the charity stripe. Vernon Carey Jr. contributed 20 points, 10 rebounds and two blocked shots. Matthew Hurt added 12 points and eight boards as a reserve. Duke led 39-26 at halftime on their way to the victory.

College Basketball Betting Trends

The Bears are 1-3-1 ATS in their last five games as a favorite. Brown is 0-6-1 ATS in its last seven road games.

The Blue Devils are 5-2 ATS in their last seven Saturday games. Duke is 1-4 ATS in its five home games.

St. John's was the first top 100 team Brown has played so far this season and it rebounded decently after a rough first half. As long as the Blue Devils take the foot off the throttle some in the second half with ACC games around the corner, I like taking the points here. Both teams might have some rust here after the holiday break, but I see Duke being the less interested team in this spot.
