Greyhounds unable to hang with UMass Lowell
Loyola (MD) dropped a 97-79 decision Friday night at the River Hawks and fell to 4-8 on the season. The Greyhounds trailed 45-35 at halftime and could not recover. Andrew Kostecka paced Loyola (MD) with 23 points on 7-of-14 shooting including 1-of-1 from 3-point range and 8-of-8 from the free throw line. He also contributed six rebounds, three assists and two steals. Brent Holcombe chipped in with 16 points, four boards and two assists. Kenny Jones tallied 12 points, three assists, two rebounds and two steals off the bench. Chuck Champion added 11 points and three boards. The Greyhounds shot 28-of-61 from the floor including 6-of-18 from 3-point distance and 17-of-20 from the charity stripe.
Wolfpack earn fifth straight win
North Carolina State improved to 11-1 on the season Saturday with a 98-71 home victory over South Carolina Upstate. The Wolfpack jumped out to a 50-32 halftime advantage and never looked back. North Carolina State shot 36-of-67 from the floor including 9-of-21 from 3-point range while going 17-of-24 from the free throw line. Eric Lockett led the Wolfpack with 15 points off the bench on 5-of-8 shooting including 3-of-3 from 3-point range. He also pulled down eight rebounds. Torin Dorn tallied 13 points and three rebounds, while DJ Funderburk had 13 points plus four boards and two assists as a reserve. Jericole Hellems registered 13 points, six boards and two dimes off the bench. Devon Daniels added 13 points, eight rebounds, two assists and two blocked shots as a reserve.
