Hofstra vs. Villanova Pick
Will No. 1 Villanova have any trouble taking care of Hofstra when the two meet tonight at 8:30PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Villanova is favored at home tonight, as the Wildcats are getting odds of -21 points against Hofstra while the over/under total has been set at 150.5 points. Tonight’s game takes place from Nassau Coliseum in Uniondale, New York and will air live on FS1.
Villanova is off to a perfect 11-0 start to the season after an 87-67 win at Temple last week. The Wildcats have covered in six of their last seven games and are 8-3 against the spread this season. Nova is averaging 85.7 points per game on offense while allowing only 63.6 per game on defense. Jalen Brunson is leading the Wildcats with 18.5 points and 4.8 assists per game while Mikal Bridges is adding 17.1 points and 6.1 rebounds per contest.
Hofstra saw a four-game win streak end earlier this week in a 63-61 loss to Manhattan. The Pride are now 7-4 on the season while going just 3-4 against the spread. Hofstra is averaging 75.5 points per game on offense this season while allowing 76.2 per game on defense. Justin Wright-Foreman is putting up 23 points per game to lead the team while Eli Pemberton is adding 16.9 points and 5.1 rebounds per game.
These two have no recent meetings to consider for today’s game. Villanova is ranked No. 1 for a reason. The Wildcats have been winning games and doing it rather convincingly in most cases. We haven’t seen many letdown performances from them this year and I don’t expect one tonight against Hofstra. The public betting is strong with Villanova and I think the Wildcats cover as well.
