Mountaineers blast Colonels
West Virginia cruised to an 83-57 home victory last Saturday over Nichols State to improve to 9-1 overall and 6-0 at home. The Mountaineers outscored the Nichols State 44-26 in the second half to pull away. Derek Culver led West Virginia with 16 points on 6-of-9 shooting including 4-of-6 at the free throw line. He also racked up 16 rebounds, three assists and two steals. Oscar Tshiebwe accounted for 15 points, 11 boards and two blocked shots. Miles McBride recorded 15 points, four caroms and two assists off the bench. Emmitt Matthews Jr. had 10 points and two rebounds. Sean McNeil added 10 points, two boards and two blocks.
Penguins ease past Bearcats
Youngstown State earned a 73-55 home win Wednesday night over Binghamton to move to 7-5 overall and 6-0 at home. Naz Bohannon led the Penguins with 19 points on 8-of-14 shooting plus 3-of-4 at the free throw line. He also registered seven rebounds, five assists and two steals. College Basketball Betting Trends
West Virginia
The Mountaineers are 4-9 ATS in their last 13 road games. West Virginia is 2-5 ATS in its last seven Saturday games.
Youngstown State
The Penguins are 3-0-1 ATS in their last four games overall. Youngstown State is 0-4-1 ATS in its last five Saturday games.
Prediction:
The Penguins are the weakest team the Mountaineers have played this season, if only by a small margin. It might be on the road, but a strong West Virginia defense should be able to slow down a subpar Youngstown State offense. If West Virginia can beat Pitt by 15 in a true road game, I like its chances to cover here.
