Bucs unable to solve North Florida

Charleston Southern (4-4) lost its second straight game at home Saturday night by a score of 76-70 against North Florida. Christian Keeling led the Buccaneers with 17 points on 6-of-16 shooting to go with six rebounds, six assists, two steals and two blocked shots. Dontrell Shuler contributed 16 points plus five boards and two assists off the bench. Duncan LeXander added 10 points nine rebounds and two steals. Charleston Southern trailed 42-37 at the half and could not recover.

Furman takes down SC Upstate

The Paladins secured a 74-60 home win Saturday over South Carolina Upstate to improve to 10-0 on the season. Jordan Lyons paced Furman with 20 points on 7-of-17 shooting, while Noah Gurley tallied 15 points plus six rebounds. Matt Rafferty filled up the stat sheet with 11 points, nine boards, four assists, three steals and two blocks. Alex Hunter added 10 points, seven rebounds, seven assists and two steals. After trailing by four at halftime, the Paladins dominated the second half as they outscored the visitors by a count of 44-26.

Prediction:

Furman is talented, but probably a little overrated after its win over Villanova in overtime last month. The last four Paladins wins have come against brutal competition and it took two overtimes to beat Western Carolina. Furman should definitely win this game, but I think the spread is a little too wide. Charleston Southern is better than all of the previous four opponents and the Paladins won three of those games by 14 or fewer points. Take advantage and go with the Bucs.
