Utah vs. Xavier Prediction

College Hoops Utah Utes vs. Xavier Musketeers Predictions 12/10/16

Following back-to-back losses, is No. 13 Xavier a good bounce-back candidate today for bettors when the Musketeers host Utah at 4:30PM ET?

According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Musketeers are now 11.5-point home favorites versus the Utes after opening as a 10-point favorite when the number was first posted. As for the total, that number opened at 147.5 but was bet down to 146 at the majority of online and Vegas sports books.

UTAH KEY TRENDS: The Utes are 6-2 against the spread in their last eight road games following three or more consecutive home games and are 25-12 against the number in their last 37 games played on Saturday. That said, they have not fared well as an underdog, failing to cover in nine of their last 12 games as a dog. They're also 0-4 at the betting window in their last four games overall and 0-4 ATS in their last four non-conference games.

XAVIER KEY TRENDS: The Musketeers are a perfect 4-0 against the spread in their last four home games are 4-0 against the number in their last four games when they're a home favorite. They've covered in four of their last five games overall as a favorite and are 38-18 at the betting window in their last 56 non-conference games as well.

OUR PREDICTION: The Musketeers are in a bit of a funk, dropping back-to-back games to No. 9 Baylor and unranked Colorado, respectively, in their last two games. But both of those contests came on the road. Today they return home to the Cintas Center, where they are 220-31 all-time. If J.P. Macura can get back on track after he was a combined 1-for-11 from 3-point rage and 5-for-25 shooting overall against Baylor and Colorado, then Xavier should roll today. I like backing home teams coming off a loss because they tend to be focused and motivated. I expect no different from the Musketeers today.
