Rams edge host Longhorns
Virginia Commonwealth improved to 7-2 on the season Wednesday night with a 54-53 victory at Texas. The Rams shot only 16-of-57 from the floor, but did go 16-of-21 at the free throw line line in the win. Marcus Evans paced VCU with 16 points on 4-of-13 shooting with four rebounds and three assists. De'Riante Jenkins tallied 12 points and three boards. Marcus Santos-Silva accounted for 10 points, 16 rebounds, five steals and two blocked shots. Virginia Commonwealth allowed the Longhorns to shoot 22-of-53, but only 4-of-17 from 3-point distance and 5-of-8 from the charity stripe.
Cavaliers dominate MSU
Virginia cruised to an 83-45 victory over Morgan State Monday night to move to 8-0 this season. The Cavaliers built a 47-23 halftime advantage en route to the win. Virginia shot 27-of-50 from the floor and 21-of-23 at the free throw line. Kyle Guy helped pace Virginia with 15 points and two assists, while De'Andre Hunter also scored 15 points. The Cavaliers held the Bears to 14-of-54 shooting from the floor.
Public Betting Trends
Virginia Commonwealth
The Rams are 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight games overall. The over is 9-4 in the last 13 VCU road games.
Virginia
The over is 8-1 in the last nine Cavaliers games versus the Atlantic 10. Virginia is 5-11 ATS in its last 16 games versus the Atlantic 10.
Prediction:
Virginia has won all four of its home games this season by at least 19 points, although none of those opponents are as good as VCU. Even so, the Cavaliers boast an offense that is eighth nationally in adjusted offensive efficiency plus a defense that is fourth in adjusted efficiency. While the Rams can keep up on the defensive end, their offense has been lousy this season with only a ranking of 250th nationally. I can't see Virginia Commonwealth matching the hosts basket for basket and I think it leads to a blowout score.
