Badgers rally past Rutgers

Wisconsin (8-1, 2-0 Big Ten) fought off a tough test at home versus the Scarlet Knights Monday night with a 69-64 win. The Badgers outscured Rutgers 43-33 in the second half after a rough opening 20 minutes. Ethan Happ paced Wisconsin with 20 points on 10-of-17 shooting plus four rebounds and three assists. D'Mitrik Trice registered 14 points and four boards. Nate Reuvers added 10 points and two rebounds. The Badgers shot 29-of-54 from the floor in the win.

Golden Eagles secure win versus UTEP

Marquette moved to 7-2 on the season and 6-0 at home Tuesday night with a 76-69 home triumph over Texas-El Paso. The Golden Eagles led 37-30 at halftime, which turned out to be the eventual margin of victory. Marquette shot 29-of-59 from the floor in the win, but struggled from 3-point distance at just 4-of-22. Markus Howard paced the Golden Eagles with 21 points on 6-of-17 shooting and 7-of-7 at the charity stripe. He added five assists and three rebounds. Joey Hauser tallied 15 points plus six boards and two dimes. Sacar Anim added 14 points and six rebounds.

The Badgers have been awesome on the road dating back to last season and they are the more talented team here. Travel isn't super bad against the in-state foe and I'd expect the Wisconsin offense to do well against a Golden Eagles defense ranked outside the top 50 in efficiency. Expect it to be a slow-paced game with the Badgers simply making more plays down the stretch.
