Ward leds Spartans past Iowa
Michigan State center Nick Ward shot a perfect 10-of-10 from the floor Monday night in a 90-68 home victory over the Hawkeyes. Ward finished with a game-high 26 points to go with nine rebounds and two blocked shots. Kenny Goins also had a monster game for the Spartans (7-2) with 19 points, 14 rebounds, seven assists and two steals. Xavier Tillman tallied 14 points, eight rebounds and four blocks in 18 minutes off the bench. Joshua Langford added 14 points and five assists. The Spartans led 43-33 at halftime and continued to dominate after the break.
Gators impress versus Mountaineers
Florida improved to 5-3 on the season Tuesday night with a 66-56 victory over West Virginia in the Jimmy V Classic. The Gators led 30-27 at halftime before pulling away in the second half. Florida shot only 16-of-48 from the floor, but its defense got the job done as it held WVU 19-of-64 from the floor. KeVaughn Allen led the Gators as he was the only player on the roster in double figures for scoring with 19 points on 5-of-13 shooting. He added four rebounds, three assists, three steals and three blocked shots.
College Basketball Betting Trends
Michigan State
The Spartans are 3-12-1 ATS in their last 16 Saturday games. The over is 6-2 in the last eight games versus SEC opponents.
Florida
The over is 8-2 in the last 10 Gators games versus Big Ten foes. The under is 15-6 in the last 21 Florida games on Saturdays.
Prediction:
This has the feel of a defensive battle as the Gators are ranked sixth nationally in defensive efficiency and life will be tough for the Michigan State offense on the road. The Spartans are also showing well on the defensive end as of late. While I can’t seem to choose a side on the spread, I see value on the under.
