Wolfpack cruises past Trojans
Nevada (8-0) has won all of its games by double digits this season and that continued Saturday with a 73-61 victory at Southern Cal. The Wolfpack trailed 35-34 at hafltime before turning it up a few notches after the break. Jordan Caroline paced Nevada with 24 points on 9-of-22 shooting to go with 11 rebounds and two assists. Tre’Shawn Thurman contributed 14 points and nine boards. Caleb Martin added 12 points, six rebounds and four dimes.
Cheatham has triple-double in win
Arizona State improved to 7-0 on the season Saturday night with an 83-71 home victory over Texas Southern. The Sun Devils opened up a 40-32 halftime advantage and padded the lead in the second half. Romello White led the scoring department with 19 to go with 14 rebounds. Luguentz Dort contributed 18 points plus two rebounds and two assists. Senior forward Zylan Cheatham recorded a triple-double with 14 points, 13 rebounds, 10 assists and two steals. Taeshon Terry had 14 points and four boards. Kimani Lawrence added 13 points, eight rebounds and five assists.

Prediction:
Nevada has dominated the competition this season to continue what was a fantastic finish to last year. The Wolfpack are second nationally in offensive adjusted efficiency and they have rolled in every game this season, although ASU will be by far their top competition to date. But after showing it could beat very talented teams last March, I’m not too worried about Nevada in this matchup. The Wolfpack has plenty of big-game experience and I think they’ll continue their strong start to this season.
