Tar Heels win consolation game
North Carolina improved to 6-1 on the season Friday night with a 94-78 victory over UCLA in the consolation game of the Las Vegas Invitational. Coby White paced North Carolina with 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting plus eight assists. Luke Maye tallied 16 points, eight boards and two steals. Kenny Williams contributed 15 points, six assists and four caroms. Cameron Johnson tallied 14 points and seven rebounds, while Nassir Little added 14 points and four rebounds in 20 minutes off the bench. The Tar Heels outscored the Bruins 53-32 in the second half after trailing by five at the break.
Wolverines win again in blowout fashion
Michigan has won all six of its games this season by at least 17 points and improved to 6-0 Friday night with an 83-55 home win over Chattanooga. Ignas Brazdeikis led the Wolverines with 20 points on 6-of-10 shooting plus 6-of-7 at the free throw line. He also pulled down seven rebounds. Jordan Poole tallied 14 points, six boards and two assists. Isaiah Livers added 12 points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals in 23 minutes off the bench. Michigan opened up a 42-22 halftime advantage and continued to play well after the break.
College Basketball Trends
The Tar Heels are 5-2-1 ATS in their last eight Wednesday games. North Carolina is 5-2-1 ATS in its last eight versus the Big Ten Conference.
The under is 6-2 in the last eight Wolverines games overall. The under is 10-4-1 in the last 15 Michigan home games.
Michigan has torn through every opponent this season including a decisive win at defending national champion Villanova in what was a rematch from last April. But the Tar Heels present the nation's fourth-ranked offense, a challenge for what has been the best defense in the nation for the Wolverines. But North Carolina also is solid on the defensive end and I think the veterans on the Tar Heels will provide the difference. Go with North Carolina with the points.
