Gators gets by Towson

Florida picked up a 66-60 home win over Towson Thursday night to improve to 2-1 on the season. The game was tied 30-30 at halftime before the Gators took control after the break. Scottie Lewis led Florida with 15 points on 5-of-8 shooting including 2-of-4 from 3-point distance plus 3-of-5 at the free throw line. He also pulled down three rebounds. Kerry Blackshear Jr. contributed 13 points and 13 boards. Andrew Nembhard added 11 points, nine dimes and two rebounds.

Huskies fall to Hawks

Connecticut lost 96-87 at home to St. Joseph's Wednesday night at home in the Charleston Classic to drop to 1-1 on the season. The Huskies trailed 54-38 at halftime of the defeat and were unable to recover. Christian Vital led UConn with 26 points on 5-of-21 shooting including 3-of-12 from 3-point range plus 13-of-14 at the charity stripe. He also accounted for 16 rebounds, two assists and two steals. Alterique Gilbert tallied 22 points, three boards and two assists. Tyler Polley registered 13 points, three blocked shots and two caroms. Akok Akok added 12 points, nine rebounds and three blocks.

College Basketball Betting Trends

The Gators are 7-1 ATS in their last eight road games. Florida is 0-4 ATS in its last four games overall.

The Huskies are 4-1 ATS in their last five Sunday games.  Connecticut is 7-3 ATS in its last 10 home games.

The Huskies gave away their game earlier this week against St. Joe's with a poor first half and I think they learn from the experience enough to bounce back here. It will be a contrast of styles as UConn loves to push the pace and Florida wants to slow it down. Look for the home team to dictate tempo for the most part and the Gators have a tendency to struggle offensively for stretches. Look for the Huskies to take this one to the wire and give themselves a chance to win.
