Eagles roll in opener

Morehead State already has a game under its belt as it downed Kentucky Christian by a count of 102-82 Tuesday night. Malek Green led the way for the Eagles with 18 points on 9-of-14 shooting plus nine rebounds. De'Von Cooper contributed 16 points and four boards. Jordan Walker registered 13 points and two assists. A.J. Hicks added 10 points, six assists and two steals. Morehead State led 61-41 at halftime en route to the victory.

Huskies hope for better days

Connecticut is in its first year under head coach Danny Hurley after the firing of Kevin Ollie following a 14-18 campaign in 2017-18. The Huskies were no better than average offensively or defensively last season, ranking 171st in adjusted offensive efficiency (105 points per 100 possessions and 178th in adjusted defensive efficiency (105.4). The Huskies will be without Sidney Wilson tonight as he is suspended for an unspecified violation that occurred last season. He sat out the 2017-18 season after transferring from St. John's. UConn does return three of its top four scorers from a season ago in Jalen Adams (18.1 ppg, 4.7 apg, 4.2 rpg), Christian Vital (14.9 ppg, 5.4 rpg) and Alterique Gilbert (9.0 ppg), 4.0 rpg, 2.8 apg in six games played).

College Basketball Betting Trends

Morehead State

The Eagles are 7-2-1 ATS in their last 10 road games. The under is 10-4 in the last 14 Morehead State games on Thursdays.

The over is 7-2 in the last nine Huskies games overall. UConn is 2-7 ATS in its last nine games overall.

UConn should be better this season with a returning core plus the possible debut of Wilson at some point as long as his suspension is lifted. But the Huskies haven't had a game yet and Morehead State has had a chance to get its feet wet this season. That's the difference here I think as the Eagles should manage to keep it close enough to lose by 12 or less points. UConn hasn't been good for a couple years, so it isn't out of the realm of possibilities that Morehead State provides a scare.
