Will Purdue avoid an upset?
No. 5 Purdue hopes to avoid an upset when it faces No. 12 Arkansas-Little Rock in the NCAA Tournament today at 4:30PM ET.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Purdue is favored in today’s game, as the Boilermakers are getting odds of -9 points against Little Rock. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 128 points. These two meet today in a Midwest Region second round game from the Pepsi Center in Denver, Colorado.
Purdue is 26-8 overall, 4-2 on a neutral floor and 18-11-1 against the spread. Arkansas-Little Rock is 29-4 overall, 3-0 on a neutral court and 19-10 against the spread. Purdue got an at-large bid by going 14-7 in the Big Ten while Little Rock was the Sun Belt Conference Tournament and regular season champion.
Purdue isn’t getting a lot of looks for the NCAA Tournament and many are even targeting the Boilermakers to be upset today, but Purdue was 7-2 against the spread in non-conference play and their lone non-conference loss was to Butler. Little Rock has obviously had a good season, but not faced some of the best in the country like Purdue has. The Boilermakers are 10th in the coaches poll, which tells you that they have the talent. Purdue is coming off a narrow loss to Michigan State in the Big Ten title game, one of the NCAA Tournament favorites. Look for Purdue to make a statement today and win comfortably.
