Creighton vs. Villanova Pick

Big East Championship: Can Villanova cover against Creighton? 3/11/17

Will No. 2 Villanova cruise to a win in the Big East Tournament championship game when it faces Creighton tonight at 5:30PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Villanova is favored in today’s game, as the Wildcats are getting odds of -8 points against Creighton. The over/under total for the game is listed at 146.5 points. Villanova won both meetings with Creighton this season, covering the spread in both games as well. Today’s game takes place from Madison Square Garden in New York.

Villanova got a scare last night as it grinded out a 55-53 win over Seton Hall to improve to 30-3 on the season. The 55 points were the fewest the Wildcats have scored this season. They now average 75.3 points per game on the season while allowing just 63.7 per game. Josh Hart is leading the team with 18.6 points and 6.5 rebounds per game while Jalen Brunson is adding 14.7 points and 4.2 assists per game.

Creighton is coming off a 75-72 win over Xavier. The Bluejays are now 25-8 overall with their wins this weekend. Creighton is now 19-12 against the spread this season despite being just 2-4 ATS in their last six games. The Bluejays average 82.2 points per game on offense while allowing 72.6 on defense. Marcus Foster is leading the team with 18.5 points per game while Justin Patton is adding 13.2 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.

Bet on the Big East Tournament

Villanova has had good results against Creighton and the Wildcats have covered in four straight against the Bluejays, dating back to last season. The question is, can Nova cover the 8 points tonight. Though Creighton has advanced to the final, it did so with wins over Providence and Xavier, not the best in the Big East. Their last solid performance against a top-level Big East team was a 76-67 win at Butler. I just don’t see Creighton having enough to handle what Villanova brings to the table.
