Public Betting Trends

According to oddsmakers at, Marquette is the clear favorite today, as the Golden Eagles are getting odds of -10 points against Georgetown. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 155 points. The public betting currently has 51 percent going on Georgetown as the road underdog. This information is subject to change, however, so be sure to check out our College Basketball Public Betting Page for updated figures on the game.

Hoyas looking for consistency

Georgetown is coming off a bad 101-69 loss at DePaul this week. The Hoyas haven’t been able to string together much sustained success this year, alternating between wins and losses quite frequently. Georgetown is 18-12 on the season, 8-9 in the Big East, 4-6 on the road, 12-17-1 against the spread and 18-11 with the over.

The Hoys are a strong offensive team, but a very poor defensive squad. Georgetown is giving up 78.3 points per game this season while putting up 80.5 per game on offense. Jessie Govan is leading the team with 17.9 points and 7.7 rebounds per game while Mac McClung is adding 13.0 points per contest.

Eagles blow chance at title

Marquette had the Big East for the taking, but the Golden Eagles have lost three straight games, with the last two coming as favorites, to lose their control over the conference. They need a Villanova loss today for a chance at a share. Marquette is 23-7 on the season, 12-5 in the Big East, 16-2 at home, 18-12 against the spread and 17-10-2 with the under.

The Golden Eagles are putting up 77.2 points per game on offense while shooting 46.5 percent as a team this season. Defensively, Marquette is giving up 68.6 points per game while opponents shoot just 40.2 percent against them. Markus Howard is leading the way with 24.9 points per game while Sam Hauser is adding 15.1 points and 7.1 rebounds per contest.

College Basketball Betting Trends

The Hoyas are 4-1 against the spread in their last five games following a loss and 1-4 against the spread in their last five road games.

Marquette is 1-6 against the spread in their last seven following a loss, but 15-7 ATS in their last 22 games against a team with a winning record.

Marquette allowed Seton Hall to score 18 straight points to end their game this week in a bad loss that could have given the Eagles a shot at the Big East title. I would think that loss will have some ramifications today. Marquette should be able to bounce back at home today. Their offense will certainly carve up this Georgetown defense and the Hoyas should be held back from their usual offensive outburst by this Marquette defense.
