Wolfpack fall at Utah State
Nevada dropped to second place in the Mountain West Conference Saturday night as it lost 81-76 at the frontrunner Aggies in a game that saw tempers flare after the contest. Caleb Martin paced the Wolfpack with 23 points on 6-of-19 shooting including 2-of-10 from 3-point range plus 9-of-14 from the free throw line. He also tallied nine rebounds, two assists and two steals. Tre’Shawn Thurman contributed 21 points, 10 boards, three steals and two blocked shots. Cody Martin added 16 points, seven rebounds, three dimes and two steals. Nevada trailed 37-33 at halftime and could not recover. The Wolfpack shot 24-of-66 from the floor, 6-of-23 from 3-point range plus 22-of-34 from the free throw line.
Falcons win third straight
Air Force earned an 80-72 victory at Wyoming Saturday to improve to 13-15 overall and 8-8 in the MWC. The Falcons led 44-40 at halftime and continued to hold control after the break. Air Force shot 29-of-62 from the field, 9-of-18 from 3-point distance plus 13-of-17 from the free throw line. Ryan Swan led the Falcons with a monster game as he scored 37 points on 13-of-17 shooting including 4-of-6 from 3-point range plus 7-of-9 at the free throw line. He also pulled down nine rebounds. Lavelle Scottie added 18 points, 10 boards and two assists.

Prediction:
Chances are you have seen the video of Wolfpack senior Jordan Caroline break the glass and yell obscenities following the loss at Utah State. Clearly whatever happened during the Aggies’ fans’ rush of the court set off Caroline, who had already had a lackluster game and fouled out. Whatever transpired is surely to light a fire under Nevada and I think the Falcons are the poor team standing in the way tonight. With the Wolfpack’s recent struggles and Air Force playing well, that likely kept the spread a bit closer than it should be. Go with Nevada to roll here.
