Michigan vs. Northwestern Pick
Michigan and Northwestern both will look to improve their conference standing when they meet up tonight at 7PM ET.
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Northwestern is slightly favored at home tonight, as the Wildcats are getting odds of -1 point against Michigan. The over/under total for the game is listed at 134 points. Michigan has won five of the last six in this series, but Northwestern is covered the spread in three of the last four meetings.
Michigan has won two straight and five of its last six to move to 19-10 on the season and 9-7 in the Big Ten. The Wolverines are 11-15 against the spread this season and 4-7 ATS on the road. Michigan is averaging 74.3 points per game on offense this season while allowing 65.9 on defense. When on the road, Michigan is putting up just 69.9 points per game on offense while giving up 75.8 on defense. Derrick Walton Jr. is leading the team with 14.4 points, 4.9 rebounds and 4 assists per game. Moritz Wagner is adding 12.6 points and 4.1 rebounds per contest.
Northwestern has dropped two straight coming into today to fall to 20-9 on the season and 9-7 in the Big Ten. The Wildcats are just 2-5 against the spread in their last seven to move to 16-10 against the spread this season. Northwestern is scoring 71.8 points per game this season while allowing just 64.7 on defense. Scottie Lindsey is putting up 14.4 points per game to lead the team while Bryant McIntosh is adding 14.3 points per game.
Michigan had just two true road wins this season and one was only a 4-point win at Rutgers last week. The Wolverines are just a team that can’t perform at a high level on the road right now. Northwestern has been struggling lately as well, but I think they will step up at home tonight knowing how badly they need a win for their NCAA Tournament hopes. Michigan also was unable to travel last night, so I think it will have weak legs entering the game.
