Toreros crushed by Gaels

San Diego lost 92-63 Saturday night at St. Mary's to drop to 9-20 overall and 2-12 in West Coast Conference action. Braun Hartfield led the Toreros with 15 points on 6-of-15 shooting plus 3-of-4 at the free throw line. He also tallied three rebounds and three assists. Yauhen Massalski contributed 13 points, eight boards and two blocked shots off the bench. Joey Calcaterra added 11 points and three caroms. San Diego was outscored 54-29 in the second half of the defeat.

Zags stumble at Cougars

Gonzaga lost by a score of 91-78 Saturday night at BYU as its 19-game winning streak came to a close. The Bulldogs (27-2, 13-1 WCC) trailed 46-38 at halftime and were unable to rally after the break. Killian Tillie paced Gonzaga with 18 points on 5-of-10 shooting including 1-of-4 from 3-point range plus 7-of-8 at the charity stripe. He also pulled down three rebounds. Corey Kispert accounted for 16 points and six boards. Filip Petrusev had 14 points and two caroms. Admon Gilder added 13 points, three rebounds and three assists off the bench.

This is a huge spread, but San Diego is a bad basketball team and the Zags are coming in salty after a loss. Frankly, I don't think the spread is big enough. The Bulldogs already blasted the Toreros 94-50 on the road. Look for another blowout tonight.
