Wichita State the first to go 30-0
PEORIA, IL (TheSpread) – With a 69-49 win at Bradley Tuesday night, Wichita State improved to 30-0 on the season, becoming the first team to go 30-0 in the regular season.
The Shockers are the lone unbeaten team in the NCAA and they got to 30-0 with a dominant win last night, outscoring Bradley by 10 in both halves, covering the 12-point spread set for the game.
“To be the first and only team in college basketball to win 30 without a loss in the regular season. I realize we’re playing more games … but it has never happened in the regular season, Wichita State coach Gregg Marshall told ESPN after the win. “So it’s a first. And these guys like to be the first, and the best.”
To go along with its 30-0 record, the Shockers are now an impressive 20-6-1 against the spread this season and 11-1 against the spread on the road. Wichita State has covered in four straight and six of their last seven.
According to oddsmakers at Bovada.lv, Wichita State has 12/1 odds to win this year’s Final Four. Just six teams have shorter odds than the Shockers, led by Florida, which is the current favorite to win the NCAA Championship with 5/1 odds.
The 2014 NCAA Tournament field will be announced on March 16 with the Final Four taking place from AT&T Stadium on April 5 and the championship game on April 7.
