Alabama vs. Kentucky Prediction
Two SEC teams desperately looking to bounce back from losses in their previous games will battle tonight when No. 16 Kentucky hosts Alabama at 7:00PM ET.
According to oddsmakers from online sports book Bovada.lv, the Wildcats are currently 13.5-point favorites over the Crimson Tide after the line opened at that same number. As for the over/under, the number hasn't moved after opening at 137 points.
Following its last-second loss at Texas A&M over the weekend, Kentucky is still 7-3 over its last 10 games and has covered the spread in six contests over that same span. Alabama has also covered the number in six of its last 10 games and is 6-4 straight up during that stretch as well.
The Tide has road wins this season over Florida and LSU, as well as a quality home victory over that same A&M squad that took down the Wildcats on Saturday. The narrative tonight is that UK will be angry coming off its loss but is 'Bama no less pissed off after falling to a Mississippi State team that it had no business losing to at home?
The Wildcats posted a relatively easy 77-61 win over the Tide in the teams' first meeting on January 9 but they enter this game tonight banged up. Forward Derrick Willis, the team's top rebounder over the lat five games, is a game-time decision due to an ankle sprain and Alex Poythress' availability is up in the air too because of a nagging knee injury.
Alabama is pushing for an NCAA bid and the only chance it has is to get a big win against a ranked Kentucky squad on the road. A loss to Mississippi State was devastating for the Crimson Tide, but they could make for it with a win in Lexington. While Kentucky should win, Bama has enough firepower to stay within 13.5 points, even at Rupp Arena.
