LSU rolling along

LSU is coming off a 73-71 win at Kentucky on Tuesday for its third straight win and cover. The Tigers have won nine of their last 10 while going 8-2 against the spread. LSU is 20-4 on the season, 6-1 on the road, 10-1 in the SEC, 14-9-1 against the spread and 14-9 with the over.

The Tigers are a pretty strong offensive team, as they average 82.9 points per game while shooting 47 percent as a squad. Defensively, LSU is giving up 73.3 points per game. Tremont Waters is leading the team with 15.7 points, 6.0 assists and 3.1 steals per contest. Naz Reid is adding 13.8 points and 6.3 rebounds per contest.

Georgia on big slide

Georgia is coming off a 73-56 loss at Texas A&M on Tuesday for its fifth straight loss. The Bulldogs haven’t covered the spread in any of the losses either. Georgia is now 10-14 on the season, 1-10 in the SEC, 8-5 at home, 12-12 against the spread and 13-11 with the under.

The Bulldogs are one of the worst defenses nationally, as they give up 75.3 points per game despite holding opponents to 42.2 percent shooting. Offensively, Georgia is putting up 74 points per game while shooting 44.6 percent. Nicolas Claxton is leading the team with 12.7 points and 9.2 rebounds per game while Rayshaun Hammonds adds 12.4 points and 6.4 rebounds per contest.

College Basketball Betting Trends

The Tigers have covered the spread in sevens straight road games and they are 10-2-1 ATS in their last 13 SEC games.

The Bulldogs are just 1-4 against the spread in their last five home games and 1-5 ATS in their last six Saturday games.

LSU picked up a 10-point win at home over Georgia on Jan. 23. The Bulldogs did manage to cover the spread in the loss. There is potential for a letdown for LSU today after the big win at Kentucky, but because Georgia played them tough before, I think the Tigers will be focused in. LSU definitely has an offense that should be able to score against Georgia, the key will be for the Tigers to play enough defense to slow down the Bulldogs. I think they will be able to do it and earn the road cover.
