Terrapins edge Cornhuskers

Maryland earned a 72-70 home win Tuesday night over Nebraska to improve to 20-4 overall and 10-3 in the Big Ten Conference. The Terrapins led 38-25 at halftime and held off a furious rally by the Cornhuskers after the break. Jalen Smith helped pace Maryland with 16 points on 7-of-10 shooting plus 2-of-3 at the free throw line. He also ripped down 13 rebounds. Eric Ayala also scored 16 points to go with five assists and three boards. Anthony Cowan Jr. registered 13 points, 10 assists and two steals. Donta Scott added 10 points and 10 caroms.

Tillman putback dunk wins it

Michigan State snapped a three-game losing skid as Xavier Tillman put the visitors ahead with a huge putback dunk with six seconds remaining to give his squad a 70-69 victory at Illinois. The Spartans (17-8, 9-5 Big Ten Conference) led 37-20 at halftime before blowing the entirety of the lead until Tillman put in the game-winner. Rocket Watts led MSU with 21 points on 9-of-14 shooting including 2-of-4 from 3-point distance plus 1-of-1 at the charity stripe. He also dished out two assists. Tillman racked up 17 points, 11 rebounds, three dimes and two steals. Aaron Henry tallied 13 points, three boards and two assists. Cassius Winston added 12 points, three steals, two caroms and two assists.

College Basketball Betting Trends

The Terrapins are 3-0-1 ATS in their last four road games. Maryland is 38-17-4 ATS in its last 59 Saturday games.

Michigan State

The Spartans are 7-1 ATS in their last eight home games. Michigan State is 0-4 ATS in its last four games as a favorite.

The Terrapins struggled earlier in the season on the road but has now now their last three games straight up away from home against Northwestern, Indiana and Illinois. While the Spartans appeared to be over their struggles for a half at Illinois, they re-appeared after the break. While MSU will get a boost on its home floor, this spread seems a bit too wide considering the talent of Maryland. Considering Michigan State lost straight up to Penn State on its home court and the Terrapins are every bit as good, I'm siding with the visitors here.
