Oregon State vs. UCLA Pick
Can No. 10 UCLA handle being an overwhelming favorite when it plays host to Oregon State today at 5PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, UCLA is heavily favored, as the Bruins are getting odds of -27.5 points against Oregon State. The over/under total is listed at 159.5 points. The road team has won the last three in this series, including a 76-63 win for UCLA back on Dec. 30. However, the Bruins were a 21-point favorite in that game.
UCLA is on a three-game win streak after avenging its previous loss to Oregon this week with an 82-79 victory at home. The Bruins are now 22-3 overall and 9-3 in the Pac-12. UCLA has struggled to cover as of late, going just 1-4 in their last five to fall to 13-12 ATS on the season. UCLA is one of the top offensive teams in the country, averaging 92.5 points per game, which is up to 95.8 at home. Defensively, the Bruins allow 76.6 points per contest. TJ Leaf is leading the team with 16.7 points and 8.8 rebounds per game while Bryce Alford is adding 16.2 points per contest.
Oregon State is on a 12-game losing streak. The Beavers are now just 4-21 overall and 0-12 in the Pac-12. They also aren’t covering the spread much, sitting at just 8-15 against the spread on the season. Oregon State averages just 63.5 points per game on offense this season while allowing 73.1 on defense. When on the road, the Beavers are giving up an average of 81.1 per game. Stephen Thompson Jr. is leading the team with 16.6 points per game while Drew Eubanks is adding 14.9 points and 8.4 rebounds per contest.
Oregon State is a bad team and UCLA shouldn’t have much trouble winning this game, but the Bruins giving up 27.5 points is a lot to ask. UCLA is coming off an emotional comeback win over Oregon, so I would expect the Bruins to come out a little slow to start. They likely are looking past this game a little bit, which should allow the Beavers to keep within reason.
