Spartans upset by Nittany Lions

Michigan State fell 75-70 at home versus Penn State Tuesday night to drop to 16-7 overall and 8-4 in Big Ten Conference action. The Spartans were outscored 43-37 at halftime and were unable to bounce back. Cassius Winston led MSU with 25 points on 8-of-21 shooting including 3-of-11 from 3-point range plus 6-of-7 at the free throw line. He also registered nine assists and two rebounds. Xavier Tillman added nine points, 11 boards, five blocked shots, two assists and two steals.

Wolverines fall at home

Michigan State lost 61-58 at home versus rival Ohio State Tuesday night to drop to 13-9 overall and 4-7 in the Big Ten. The Wolverines were outscored 33-31 in the second half of the defeat. Zavier Simpson led Michigan with 15 points on 5-of-14 shooting including 3-of-7 from 3-point distance plus 2-of-2 at the free throw line. He also accounted for seven rebounds and five assists. Austin Davis added 11 points and three boards off the bench.

College Basketball Betting Trends

Michigan State

The Spartans are 5-2 ATS in their last seven Saturday games. Michigan State is 1-4 ATS in its last five road games.

The Wolverines are 2-6-1 ATS in their last nine games overall. Michigan is 0-5 ATS in its last five games as an underdog.

Both teams have struggled lately, but the Spartans have been a disaster on the road and that even spilled over to a home game earlier this week. Michigan will have the backing of a home crowd that greatly dislikes the opponent, plus this feels like a must-win for the hosts considering the fading NCAA Tournament hopes. I'd rather take the points with the home team in this early start time.
