Tigers upset by Commodores

Louisiana State fell 99-90 at Vanderbilt Wednesday night to drop to 17-5 overall and 8-1 in the Southeastern Conference. The Tigers trailed 52-47 at halftime and were unable to recover. Trendon Watford paced LSU with 26 points on 1-of-3 from 3-point distance plus 9-of-10 at the free throw line. He also pulled down nine rebounds. Emmitt Williams contributed 24 points, 11 boards and two blocked shots. Skylar Mays tallied 15 points, four caroms, three assists and two steals. Javonte Smart added 15 points, two rebounds and two assists.

Tigers edge Razorbacks in OT

Auburn downed Tuesday night at Arkansas to move to 20-2 overall and 7-2 in the SEC. The Tigers were outscored 37-35 in the second half, but outscored the Razorbacks 10-7 in the extra session to post the win. Samir Doughty led Auburn with 23 points on 8-of-13 shooting including 3-of-7 from 3-point range plus 4-of-4 at the charity stripe. He also notched three rebounds and two assists. J'Von McCormick contributed 16 points, six boards and three assists. Isaac Okoro recorded 14 points, seven caroms, two assists and two steals. Anfernee McLemore tallied 11 points and 10 rebounds. Danjel Purifoy added 10 points, nine boards and three assists.

College Basketball Betting Trends

The Tigers are 2-6-1 ATS in their last nine games overall. LSU is 13-6-1 ATS in its last 20 road games.

The Tigers are 3-10 ATS in their last 13 home games versus a team with a winning road record. The favorite is 4-1 ATS in the last five meetings.

Louisiana State was perhaps caught in a look-ahead spot with its lackluster performance at a Vandy squad that was previously without a win in conference play. LSU should be much better this afternoon against an Auburn squad that typically gets the job done, but does not always run away from its opponents. Louisiana State should manufacture plenty of offense and I see this as a game that could go right down to the wire. In that case, I will gladly take the points.
