Northwestern vs. Michigan Pick
Can No. 20 Michigan go on the road and avoid being upset by Northwestern when the two meet up tonight at 7PM ET?
According to oddsmakers at YouWager, Michigan is the slight favorite on the road, as the Wolverines are getting odds of -1.5 points against Northwestern. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 129 points. Today’s game takes place from the Allstate Arena in Rosemont, Illinois and will air on the Big Ten Network.
Michigan is coming off a 76-73 OT win over Minnesota at home this past weekend for its second straight victory. The Wolverines are 19-6 overall, 8-4 in the Big Ten and 14-9-1 against the spread. Michigan is averaging 73.3 points per game on offense this season while allowing just 63.5 per contest. Charles Matthews is leading the Wolverines with 14.4 points and 5.4 rebounds per game while Moritz Wagner is adding 14.1 points and 7.1 rebounds per contest.
Northwestern is coming off a 60-52 win at Wisconsin this past weekend for its third win in four games. The lone loss was 58-47 at Michigan. The Wildcats are 14-10 overall, 5-6 in the Big Ten and 9-12 against the spread. Northwestern is putting up 70.7 points per game on offense while allowing 66.9 per contest on defense. Scottie Lindsey is averaging 14 points per game to lead the team while Bryant McIntosh is adding 12.6 points and 5.4 assists per contest.
Bet on Michigan vs. Northwestern
Michigan has won eight of the last 10 meetings in this series, including the win on Jan. 29. However, the Wildcats have covered in four of the last six meetings. This game is a tough call. Both teams have good performances and awful ones. Michigan seems to play to the level of its competition a lot and I don’t like that for a road favorite. Northwestern is coming off a pretty good three-game road trip and returns home where it is 10-3. The public betting is heavily with Michigan, but I think the Wildcats make it happen tonight.
