Providence unbeaten vs. the spread after a loss, hosts Villanova today

Two of the Big East’s best meet up today at 2:30PM ET on FS1 as No. 11 Providence hosts No. 3 Villanova.

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Villanova is favored on the road, as the Wildcats are getting odds of -4.5 points against Providence. The over/under total for the contest has been set at 138.5 points.

Villanova is leading the Big East with a 9-1 record in conference play. The Wildcats are also 19-3 overall. The lone loss in conference came against Providence back on Jan. 24, 82-76 in OT. Since then, Villanova has won back-to-back games by double figures. Providence is 18-5 on the season, but just 6-4 in the Big East. The Friars have lost two of their last three, including a 77-70 loss at DePaul in their last game.

The loss wasn’t ideal for the Friars, but it could mean good things today against the Wildcats. Providence is 3-0 against the spread this season following a loss. On the flip side, Villanova has been somewhat shaky after a win, going just 8-9-1 against the spread this season.
