Cyclones win third straight

Iowa State improved to 17-5 overall and 6-3 in the Big 12 Conference Saturday with a 65-60 home victory over Texas. The Cyclones led 31-27 at halftime and held on in the second half. Iowa State shot 23-of-54 from the floor, 8-of-21 on 3-point attempts and 11-of-14 at the free throw line. Talen Horton-Tucker led ISU with 11 points on 6-of-13 shooting including 3-of-6 on 3-point attempts. He also accounted for six rebounds, three steals and two assists. Marial Shayok accounted for 12 points and four caroms. Nick Weiler-Babb tallied 11 points, seven boards, three assists and three steals. Cameron Lard added 11 points and three rebounds off the bench.

Sooners struggle against Mountaineers

Oklahoma suffered a 79-71 defeat at West Virginia Saturday to drop to 15-7 overall and 3-6 in conference play. The Sooners trailed 33-26 at halftime on their way to the loss. Oklahoma shot 21-of-50 from the field, 8-of-21 on 3-point tries and 21-of-29 at the free throw line. Brady Manek paced the Sooners with 18 points on 7-of-10 shooting including 4-of-6 from 3-point distance. He also pulled down four rebounds. Aaron Calixte contributed 17 points and three assists off the bench. Christian James added 10 points, two rebounds, two assists and two steals.

Oklahoma likes to speed it up a little more, but can often struggle at the offensive end. Iowa State has allowed 68 or fewer points in five of its last seven games, while Oklahoma hasn't scored more than 71 in its last four. I expect this game to stay close and if so, the Sooners will have to keep the score down. I'm taking the under tonight.
