According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, Virginia is favored on the road today, as the Cavaliers are getting odds of -6.5 points against Syracuse. The over/under total for the game is listed at 125 points. Virginia has won three of the last four in this series, but the Orange have covered in two straight meetings.

Virginia is coming off a 71-48 win over Virginia Tech at home. The Cavs are now 17-4 overall and 7-2 in the ACC. UVA is 13-6 against the spread on the season and an impressive 8-2 ATS on the road. Virginia is a dominant defensive team, allowing just 53.4 points per game this season. Offensively, Virginia puts up just 69.2 points per game. London Perrantes leads Virginia with just 12 points and 3.8 assists per game while Marial Shayok adds 10.1 points per contest.

Syracuse has gotten somewhat hot, winning three straight, including a 100-93 OT win at N.C. State this week. The Orange are now 14-9 overall and 6-4 in the ACC. Cuse has covered in three straight as well to get to 9-9 against the spread on the season. Syracuse is a team averaging 77 points per game on offense this year while allowing 69.5 on defense. When at home, Cuse is averaging 81.5 on offense and holding opponents to just 64.3. Andrew White III has been leading the team with 17.2 points and 4.6 rebounds per game while Tyler Lydon is adding 14.3 points and 7.9 rebounds per game.

Virginia is a tough team to deal with, but Syracuse comes in hot. My issue with the Orange is that they have had to win with big offensive numbers and I don’t think they can get that today. They have lost their last three when being held to 75 points or less. Virginia hasn’t allowed that many points to a team in weeks. I think the Cavs will continue to stifle teams with their defense and pick up a comfortable road win.
