Hoosiers in massive funk

Indiana is in the midst in quite a funk, as they have lost seven straight games following a 66-58 loss at Rutgers earlier this week. Indiana is just 1-7 against the spread in its last eight games. IU is now 12-9 overall, 3-7 in the Big Ten, 7-13 against the spread, 1-7 on the road and 14-6 with the under.

The Hoosiers actually haven’t been too bad on defense this season, allowing just 66.3 points per game. However, the offense is a mess. IU is averaging 72 points per game while shooting just 31.9 percent from the arc. Romeo Langford is leading the team with 17.3 points and 5.4 rebounds per game while Juwan Morgan is adding 16.5 points and 8.0 rebounds per contest.

Spartans end win streak

Michigan State was as hot as anyone, but the Spartans are coming off a 73-63 loss at Purdue last Sunday after playing their third game of the week. MSU is now 18-3 on the season, 9-1 in the Big Ten, 10-0 at home, 16-5 against the spread and 12-8-1 with the under.

The Spartans have been one of the better offensive teams in the nation, averaging 82.8 points per game while shooting just under 50 percent as a team. Defensively, MSU gives up just 66.4 points while holding opponents to only 36.7 percent shooting. The team found out this week that guard Josh Langford will miss the rest of the season with his ankle injury and forward Nick Ward is currently questionable to play tonight due to the flu. Langford and Ward both average 15 points per game. Ward also adds 6.9 rebounds per game. Cassius Winston is leading the team with 18.5 points and 7.3 assists per contest. Winston also shoots 45.5 percent from the arc.

College Basketball Betting Trends

Indiana

Indiana is just 1-4 against the spread in its last five road games and 0-5 ATS in its last five Big Ten games.

Michigan State

MSU has covered the spread in nine of its last 10 conference games and in five straight at home.

Prediction:

MSU has played well without Langford, so that injury isn’t too much of a concern. If Ward doesn’t play, that could certainly hurt MSU. However, the Spartans are coming off a loss and should be motivated with a week of rest. MSU has been absolutely dominant at home, posting an average of +27 point differential. Indiana is just too much of a mess to overcome their issues on the road against this Michigan State team.

College Basketball Prediction: Michigan State -14.5
