Spartans blast Spartans

Michigan State raced to a 79-50 home win Wednesday night over Northwestern to move to 16-5 overall and 8-2 in Big Ten Conference play. The Spartans outscored the Wildcats 46-28 in the second half to secure the victory. Cassius Winston led Michigan State with 18 points in 26 minutes of action on 6-of-12 shooting including 4-of-7 from 3-point range plus 2-of-2 at the free throw line. Xavier Tillman accounted for 12 points, eight rebounds, four assists, three steals and two blocked shots. Foster Loyer added 12 points, four dimes and two boards off the bench.

Badgers fall at Hawkeyes

Wisconsin lost by a score of 68-62 Monday night at Iowa to drop to 12-9 overall and 5-5 in conference action. D'Mitrik Trice paced the Badgers with 16 points on 5-of-10 shooting including 3-of-6 from 3-point distance plus 3-of-4 at the charity stripe. He also notched nine rebounds and six assists. Nate Reuvers added 13 points, three boards and two blocked shots. Wisconsin was outscored 38-32 in the second half of the defeat.

Prediction:

The Badgers have struggled lately, but all three of their losses in the last six games have been on the road. At home, they have a narrow win over Maryland and rolled past Nebraska plus a victory at Penn State in that stretch. I see this spread as a little too wide, especially when it was pretty recently that MSU was demolished at Purdue. I'd rather take the points in this spot.
