Bet on Virginia Tech vs. Virginia

Virginia had its five-game win streak snapped in a 61-59 loss at Villanova this weekend. The Cavaliers are now 16-4 on the season and 6-2 in the ACC. The Cavaliers have covered the spread in five of their last six to move to 12-6 against the spread on the season. Virginia is averaging just 69.1 points per game on offense while allowing just 53.6 on defense. At home, the Cavs have held opponents to just 49.4 points per game. London Perrantes is averaging 11.9 points per game to lead the team while Marial Shayok adds 10.2 points per contest.

Virginia Tech has won three of its last four to move to 16-5 overall and 5-4 in the ACC. The Hokies are only 1-4 against the spread in their last five games and now 8-9 against the spread on the season. Unlike Virginia, Tech relies on its offense. The Hokies average 81.2 points per game on offense while giving up 73.4 per game on defense. The Hokies really struggle to stop opponents on the road though, allowing 87.8 per game. Zach LeDay has been leading the team with 16.1 points and 6.7 rebounds per game. Ahmed Hill is adding 13 points per contest.

Virginia giving up 11 points makes me a little nervous, as the Cavaliers aren’t an overpowering offense. However, the Hokies have really struggled to stop teams on the road, which should allow UVA to boost its offensive numbers. I also expect the Cavs’ defense continue to be dominant at home, especially coming off a loss.
