Pittsburgh vs. North Carolina Pick

CBB Picks: Can North Carolina cover a 19-point spread vs. Pittsburgh?

Will No. 12 North Carolina have any trouble running past Pittsburgh when the Heels host the Panthers tonight at 7PM ET?

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, UNC is the clear favorite tonight, as the Tar Heels are getting odds of -19 points against Pittsburgh. The over/under total for the contest is listed at 160 points. UNC has won and covered the spread in its last two meetings with Pittsburgh.

Bet on Pittsburgh vs. North Carolina

Pittsburgh is a mess right now, losing six straight to fall to 12-9 overall and 1-7 in the ACC. The Panthers are 1-5 against the spread during this losing streak and sit at 6-12-2 against the spread for the season. On the season, Pitt is averaging 76.8 points per game while allowing 77.3. Over the Panthers’ last 5 games, they are averaging just 62.2 on offense and allowing 81.8. Jamel Artis is averaging 21.1 points per game this season while Michael Young is adding 20.3 points per game and 7.1 rebounds per contest.

North Carolina had a seven-game win streak snapped this weekend in a 77-62 loss at Miami. The Tar Heels are now 19-4 overall and 7-2 in the ACC. UNC sits at 11-9-1 against the spread on the season and 8-2 ATS at home. UNC has a great offense that averages 87.6 points per game for the year, including 91.5 at home. Defensively, the Heels allow 71.5 points per game on the season and only 64.9 at home. Justin Jackson is leading UNC with 18.7 points per game while Kennedy Meeks is adding 12.7 points and 9.7 rebounds per contest.

The spread is big, but I think the Heels bounce back in a big way tonight after the poor loss on the road. UNC led big early on Miami but then fell apart. The Tar Heels have covered in their last two games after a loss and I expect the same today as Pittsburgh is a mess right now and hasn’t been good against the spread all season.
