CBB Predictions: Texas A&M Aggies vs. West Virginia Mountaineers 1/28/17

Will No. 18 West Virginia stay tough at home when it plays host to Texas A&M today at Noon ET in the SEC/Big 12 Challenge?

According to oddsmakers at BetDSI, West Virginia is favored at home today, as the Mountaineers are getting odds of -16 points against the Aggies. The over/under total for the game is listed at 143 points. These two last met in 2009 with West Virginia getting a 73-66 win at home.

West Virginia is coming off a big 85-69 win at home over Kansas this week to move to 16-4 on the season. The Mountaineers are 11-1 at home this season overall while putting up an 8-7 record against the spread with a 4-3 mark ATS at home. WVU has a great offense that is averaging 88.1 points per game this season. The defense is allowing just 64.9 per game. Nathan Adrian is averaging 10.7 points and 6.4 rebounds per game, but he is questionable today with an ankle injury. Esa Ahmad is the leading scorer for WVU with 12.1 points per game.

Bet on Texas A&M vs. West Virginia

Texas A&M has beaten Georgia and Ole Miss in back-to-back games to get to 11-8 on the season. The Aggies are just 1-3 on the road, however. Their record against the spread is only 6-10 on the season, including 3-5 ATS away from home. A&M averages 72.5 points per game on offense, but that falls to 66.2 in road games. The defense is allowing just 67.5 per game, but that jumps up to 80.5 on the road. D.J. Hogg is averaging 13.1 points and 5.3 rebounds per game, but is questionable to play because of a foot injury. Tyler Davis is the leading scorer with 13.7 points and 6.8 rebounds per game.

Both teams have a key injury to their lineup and I can’t see either one taking a chance with their star in a non-conference game. West Virginia is coming off a big high of beating Kansas, so I expect somewhat of an emotional letdown today. I like the Aggies to build off their two-game win streak and cover the spread.
