Longhorns fall short versus Jayhawks

Texas lost by a 66-57 score at home Saturday afternoon against Kansas to drop to 12-5 overall and 2-3 in the Big 12 Conference. The Longhorns were outscored 40-26 in the second half after leading by five at the break. Jericho Sims paced Texas with 20 points on 9-of-14 shooting plus 2-of-3 at the free throw line. He also contributed six rebounds and two blocked shots. Matt Coleman III added 10 points, three assists and two boards.

Mountaineers stumble at Wildcats

West Virginia fell by a score of 84-68 Saturday at Kansas State to drop to 14-3 overall and 3-2 in conference action. The Mountaineers trailed 42-25 at halftime and were unable to recover. Miles McBride paced West Virginia with 11 points off the bench on 4-of-10 shooting including 1-of-4 from 3-point range plus 2-of-4 at the charity stripe. He also registered two assists and two steals. Chase Harter tallied 11 points and two rebounds as a reserve. Gabe Osabuohien added 10 points, five boards and three steals off the bench.

College Basketball Betting Trends

The Longhorns are 11-5 ATS in their last 16 games as a road underdog. Texas is 4-11 ATS in its last 15 games overall.

West Virginia

The Mountaineers are 4-0 ATS in their last four games as a home favorite. West Virginia is 1-5 ATS in its last six Monday games.

The Longhorns have stumbled in their biggest games this season at Baylor and at home against Kansas. This is another tough road test on a quick turnaround and I'd actually put more thought into taking Texas had the Mountaineers not lost Saturday. I think the turnaround here will be tougher on the road team and West Virginia is going to be salty wanting to rebound from that defeat, whereas the Longhorns were expected to lose their game. Look for WVU to lean on its elite defense to pull away from a Texas squad that has struggles offensively.
