Florida falls to Tennessee
The Gators are coming off a 78-67 loss at home to Tennessee this weekend for its second loss in three games. Florida is 9-6 overall, 1-2 in the SEC, 1-1 on the road, 7-8 against the spread and 10-5 with the under.
Florida has one of the best defenses in the nation, allowing just 61.2 points per game while limiting opponents to 39.9 percent shooting from the field and 30.3 percent shooting from the arc. Offensively, Florida is putting up 69.7 points per game while shooting just 42.6 percent. KeVaughn Allen is leading the team with 11.3 points per game while Noah Locke is adding 10.4 points per contest.
Mississippi State reeling
The Bulldogs are coming off back-to-back losses to South Carolina and Ole Miss over the last week. They are now 12-3 on the season, 0-2 in the SEC, 8-1 at home, 7-8 against the spread and 8-7 with the over.
Mississippi State is putting up 80.1 points per game on offense this season while shooting 47.9 percent form the field. Defensively, the Bulldogs are allowing 69 points per game while limiting opponents to 42.8 percent shooting. Quinndary Weatherspoon is leading the team with 17.1 points and 5.7 rebounds per game while Lamar Peters is adding 13.6 points and 6.1 assists per contest.
College Basketball Betting Trends
Florida
The Gators are 6-1 against the spread in their last seven games following a loss and 8-3 ATS in their last 11 Tuesday games.
Mississippi State
The Bulldogs are just 1-5-1 against the spread in their last seven SEC games and 1-3-1 ATS in their last five games following a loss.
Prediction:
Florida is actually just 1-7 ATS in their last eight trips to Mississippi State. This game is really about if Mississippi State is for real. The Bulldogs have a nice home win over Cincinnati last month. The Bearcats are also a defensive-minded team and the Bulldogs have managed to find ways to score all season. Florida just doesn’t have the offense to win games against teams that get hot shooting. Their defense and pacing helps them win games, but that struggles to translate in road games. I expect Mississippi State to be up for this game considering they have lost their last two and people are questioning whether they can really compete.
College Basketball Prediction: Mississippi State -4.5
