Wolverines down Boilermakers in double OT

Michigan earned an 84-78 home win in double overtime Thursday night over Purdue to improve to 11-4 overall and 2-2 in the Big Ten Conference. The Wolverines led 32-28 at halftime before the score went to 62-62 at the end of regulation and 68-68 at the conclusion of the first OT. Zavier Simpson led U-M with 22 points on 9-of-13 shooting including 1-of-5 from 3-point range plus 3-of-5 at the free throw line. He also registered nine assists and three rebounds. Jon Teske accounted for 18 points, nine boards and four blocked shots. Franz Wagner tallied 15 points, five caroms, two steals and two blocks. David DeJulius added 11 points and six dimes.

Golden Gophers falter at Spartans

Minnesota fell by a score of 74-58 Thursday night at Michigan State to drop to 8-7 overall and 2-3 in conference action. The Golden Gophers were outscored 38-26 in the second half of the defeat. Daniel Oturu led Minnesota with 22 points on 9-of-19 shooting including 1-of-2 from 3-point distance plus 3-of-4 at the charity stripe. He also registered 10 rebounds and two blocked shots. Marcus Carr accumulated 11 points, six assists and three boards. Alihan Demir added 10 points, eight caroms and three blocks.

College Basketball Betting Trends

Michigan

The Wolverines are 13-4 ATS in their last 17 Sunday games. Michigan is 1-5 ATS in its last six road games.

Minnesota

The Golden Gophers are 7-2 ATS in their last nine games as a favorite. The favorite is 5-2 ATS in the last seven meetings.

Prediction:

This spread was surely swung a little more in favor of Minnesota due to the grueling win the Wolverines had earlier this week. Going on the road for an early start with some fatigue is not exactly an ideal situation and I think the Golden Gophers take advantage. Minnesota has only lost once at home this season and should be properly motivated to knock off its conference foe. I like the hosts here.
