According to oddsmakers at BetNow.eu, Houston is the clear favorite at home, as the Cougars are getting odds of -11 points against Wichita State. The over/under total for the game is listed at 136 points. The public betting currently has 59 percent going on Houston at home. Shockers on a skid
Wichita State has fallen on hard times, as they have dropped three straight following an 85-81 OT loss at home to Temple. The Shockers have failed to cover the spread in six of their last seven as well. Wichita State is 7-7 on the season, 0-2 in the AAC, 0-3 on the road, 6-8 against the spread and 8-6 with the under.
The Shockers are struggling on both sides of the court this season. The offense is averaging just 71.1 points per game while shooting only 41.4 percent from the floor. Defensively, Wichita State is giving up 71.9 points per game. Markis McDuffie is leading the team with 19.1 points and 5.2 rebounds per game while Samajae Haynes-Jones is adding 13.0 points per game.
Cougars looking to bounce back
Houston is coming off a 73-69 loss at Temple on Wednesday. That snapped a 15-game win streak to start the season. Houston is now 15-1 on the season, 2-1 in the AAC, 13-0 at home, 10-5-1 against the spread and 9-7 with the under.
The Cougars have one of the best defenses in the nation, allowing only 60.1 points per game while limiting opponents to just 36.3 percent shooting from the field and 26.5 percent shooting from the arc. Offensively, Houston is putting up 75.1 points per game. Corey Davis Jr. is leading the team with 15.2 points per game while Armoni Brooks is adding 14.3 points and 6.9 rebounds per contest.
College Basketball Betting Trends
Wichita State
The Shockers are 1-5 against the spread in their last six road games and 1-4 ATS in their last five games following a loss.
Houston
Houston is 9-1-1 against the spread in their last 11 games following a failed cover and 4-1 ATS in their last five home games.
Prediction:
These two just had a similar result at Temple, but Wichita State has really looked poor on the road. The Shockers are scoring just 58.7 points per game on the road this season while giving up close to 80 points. Houston’s defense is very strong and at its best at home, so I don’t see the Shockers being able to do much on offense. That will allow Houston to not have to put up a big total to cover this spread.
College Basketball Prediction: Houston -11
