Cavs win second straight in ACC play
Virginia improved to 14-0 overall and 2-0 in Atlantic Coast Conference action Wednesday night with a dominant 83-56 victory at Boston College. Mamadi Diakite paced the Cavaliers with 18 points on 9-of-12 shooting to go with seven rebounds and two blocked shots. De’Andre Hunter also scored 18 points to go with six boards and two assists. Ty Jerome tallied 13 points, four caroms and four dimes. Kyle Guy added 10 points, eight rebounds, five assists and two steals. Virginia jumped out to a 43-31 halftime advantage and rolled from there. The Cavaliers shot 33-of-55 from the field, 8-of-19 from 3-point distance and 9-of-14 at the free throw line.
Tigers drop second in a row
Clemson lost 61-53 Wednesday night at Syracuse to drop to 10-5 on the season and 0-2 in ACC play. Marcquise Reed paced the Tigers with 16 points on 5-of-13 shooting, 2-of-5 on 3-pointers and 4-of-5 at the free throw line. He also tallied six rebounds, three assists and three steals. Elijah Thomas added 13 points and seven boards. Clemson trailed 30-22 at halftime and could not recover. College Basketball Betting Trends
Virginia
The Cavaliers are 4-0 ATS in their last four games following an ATS win. Virginia is 4-1 ATS in its last five games versus the ACC.
Clemson
The Tigers are 3-8 ATS in their last 11 home games. Clemson is 0-4 ATS in its last four games following an ATS loss.
Prediction:
The Cavaliers are ranked in the top five nationally in both offensive and defensive efficiency. Clemson is not. It’s not as if the Tigers are bad by any stretch, but they are 59th in adjusted offensive efficiency and 24th defensively. Additionally, Clemson is coming in struggling recently whereas Virginia only appears to be getting better. Add in that the Cavaliers are always a frustrating team to play and I like the visitors to cover the spread today.
