Tennessee dominating
The Vols are on a 9-game win streak since losing to Kansas back on Nov. 23. They have covered the spread in three straight as well while winning their last six by double figures and their last three by at least 24. That includes an 87-63 win at Missouri on Tuesday night. Tennessee is 13-1 on the season, 2-0 in the SEC, 2-0 on the road, 7-5-1 against the spread and 7-6 with the over.
Tennessee has one of the top offenses in the nation, scoring 86.4 points per game while shooting 51.4 percent from the field. Defensively, the Vols are giving up only 65 points per game while limiting opponents to just 37.3 percent shooting from the field and 28.6 percent from the arc. Grant Williams is leading the Tennessee charge with 18.8 points and 7.8 rebounds per game while Admrial Schofield adds 18.0 points and 6.2 rebounds per game.
Gators bounce back
Florida suffered a 71-69 loss at home to South Carolina last weekend, but bounced back on Wednesday with a 57-51 win at Arkansas. The Gators are now 9-5 overall, 1-1 in the SEC, 5-2 at home, 7-7 against the spread and 10-4 with the under.
As usual, the Gators have been led by defense this season. Florida allows just 60 points per game, which is eighth-best in the country right now. They are holding opponents to 39 percent shooting from the field and 29.6 percent from the arc. Offensively, Florida isn’t much to write home about. The Gators put up just 69.9 points per game and shoot just 43.1 percent. KeVaughn Allen is leading the team with 10.9 points per game while Noah Locke is adding 10.0 points per contest.
College Basketball Betting Trends
Tennessee
Tennessee is 5-1 against the spread in their last six road games and 5-2 ATS in their last seven following a win.
Florida
The Gators are 3-7 against the spread in their last 10 following a win and 2-6-1 ATS in their last nine home games against a team with a winning road record.
Prediction:
The home team has won and covered in five straight in this series, but I think that changes today. Tennessee is far more athletic than Florida when it comes to being able to score. The Vols have a defense that can match up well with Florida’s slow style of offense, but I don’t see the Gators being able to control tempo on defense as much as they would like. Tennessee is actually scoring close to 95 points per game away from home right now and Florida just can’t manufacture that kind of offense. I think the Gators are going to be heavily outmatched here.
College Basketball Prediction: Tennessee -3
