Bulldogs bounce back

Following a rough 96-50 loss at Tennessee last weekend, Georgia bounced back on Wednesday with an 82-63 win over Vanderbilt at home. The Bulldogs are now 9-5 on the season, 1-1 in the SEC, 1-2 on the road, 10-4 against the spread and 8-6 with the under.

Georgia is putting up 77.3 points per game on the season while pulling down 42.2 rebounds per game, which ranks 11th nationally. Defensively, the Bulldogs give up 71.8 points per game despite holding opponents to just 38.7 percent shooting from the field and 29.6 percent shooting from the arc. Rayshaun Hammonds is leading the team with 14.2 points and 6.4 rebounds per game while Nicolas Claxton is adding 12.4 points and 9.9 rebounds per game.

Tigers drop SEC opener

Auburn was shocked on Wednesday, suffering an 82-67 loss at Ole Miss to open up SEC play. The Tigers have now dropped two of their last four and are just 1-6 against the spread in their last seven. For the season, Auburn is 11-3 overall, 8-0 at home, 6-6-1 against the spread and 7-6 with the under.

The Tigers have one of the top-scoring offenses in the nation, averaging 83.9 per game. Defensively, Auburn is allowing just 65.7 per contest. Bryce Brown has been leading the team this season with 15.9 points per game while Jared Harper is adding 14.5 points and 6.7 assists per contest.

College Basketball Betting Trends

Georgia

The Bulldogs have covered the spread in seven of their last eight games and four of their last five following a win.

Auburn

Auburn has failed to cover in five straight SEC games and in nine of their last 10 following a failed cover.

Prediction:

Auburn is being given a lot of credit coming into this game and the Tigers just haven’t shown they can be trusted at the betting window right now. They are only 4-3 against the spread at home this season and their defense has looked shaky in recent games. Georgia did get shelled at Tennessee, but Auburn isn’t as solid on both sides of the floor as the Vols. I think Georgia has what it takes to compete today and at least make things interesting for Auburn.
