Tigers drop second straight

Pacific fell to 10-7 on the season and 0-2 in the West Coast Conference with a 73-64 loss at San Diego Saturday night. The Tigers trailed 31-25 at halftime and could not recover. Pacific shot 21-of-55 from the floor, 5-of-17 on 3-point tries and 17-of-23 at the free throw line in the defeat. Jahlil Tripp paced the Tigers with 24 points on 10-of-15 shooting including 1-of-3 on 3-point attempts plus 3-of-4 at the free throw line. He also contributed five rebounds and three steals. Roberto Gallinat tallied 19 points and three boards off the bench. Lafayette Dorsey added 15 points, four caroms, two assists and two steals.

Bulldogs dominate Broncos

Gonzaga rolled to a 91-49 home victory Saturday night at home over Santa Clara to open WCC play. The Bulldogs (14-2, 1-0) raced out to a huge 50-27 halftime lead on their way to the lopsided win. Rui Hachimura paced Gonzaga with 25 points on 8-of-12 shooting plus a perfect 8-of-8 at the free throw line. He also tallied five rebounds and two assists. Brandon Clarke added 16 points, six rebounds and two steals. The Bulldogs shot 32-of-62 from the field including 5-of-19 from 3-point range plus 22-of-31 at the free throw line.

College Basketball Betting Trends

Pacific

The Tigers are 15-5-1 ATS in their last 21 Thursday games. Pacific is 13-6-1 ATS in its last 20 WCC games.

Gonzaga

The Bulldogs are 5-0 ATS in their last five home games. Gonzaga is 4-1 ATS in its last five games versus the WCC.

Prediction:

This line is bloated due to the last five Bulldogs results, but the fact is Pacific is better than any of those five opponents. I'm not necessarily expecting this game to stay close, but the line gives plenty of room to work with and it should be more competitive than Gonzaga's recent games. The Tigers' toughest opponent this season was Nevada, which ended as an 83-61 road loss all the way back on Nov. 9. I think Pacific keeps this one closer than oddsmakers project.
