LOS ANGELES (AP) -UCLA men’s basketball coach Ben Howland has undergone an appendectomy.
Howland was resting comfortably Thursday, a day after he had what the school referred to as a “standard appendectomy” performed at the Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center by Dr. Joe Hines.
Howland said he expects to return to work Monday.
“One of the very best things about being a coach or student-athlete at UCLA is if you need medical attention, you won’t find any better place in the country than at the incomparable UCLA Medical Center,” Howland said.
Howland has a 152-54 record (.738) in six seasons at UCLA, including three straight Final Four appearances from 2006-08, and is 320-153 (.677) in 15 seasons overall.
