COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) -South Carolina forward Chad Gray was dismissed from the men's basketball team by new coach Darrin Horn on Thursday because of repeated violations of team rules.
Gray, a 6-foot-7, 205-pound sophomore from Kingstree, averaged 2.2 points and 1.4 rebounds in a reserve role. Gray started one of the 19 games he played in last season.
Horn said in a statement he was disappointed that Gray wouldn't be with the team, but wished the player well in the future.
Athletic spokesman Steve Fink said Horn was out of town and did not wish to comment further on Gray's dismissal.
