DEKALB, Ill. (AP) -Two Northern Illinois University basketball players, including star guard Darion Anderson, have been indefinitely suspended for unspecified violations of team rules.
NIU spokesman Brett McWethy says Anderson and Jeremy Landers have been suspended for an “indefinite” amount of time.
Coach Ricardo Patton says he is disappointed but must hold players to the team’s standards.
Anderson has led NIU in both scoring and rebounding six times this season. The Chicago native was the 2008 Mid-American Conference Freshman of the Year.
On Wednesday, Anderson had his 15th double-digit scoring output of the season.
Both players were on the roster for Saturday’s 69-61 loss to Bowling Green, but NIU said neither was in uniform.
