EMMITSBURG, Md. (AP) -Brice Brooks scored 19 points and Sacred Heart closed the game on a 16-5 run to beat Mount St. Mary’s 67-59 in a Northeast Conference game Saturday.
Chris Vann scored 16 points, Sam Atupem added 15 and Jeremy Goode had 14 for Mount St. Mary’s (9-10, 6-2), which led 54-51 with four minutes left in the game.
Brooks converted a big 3-point play with 3:20 remaining to give Sacred Heart a 59-57 lead. Ryan Litke contributed 11 points, including a pair of free throws with 2:30 remaining and 3-pointer with a minute left.
Sacred Heart (8-10, 4-3) used a 13-0 run over a six-minute stretch of the first half to turn a seven-point deficit into a six-point lead before Mount St. Mary`s scored eight straight points, all on free throws, to re-take the lead briefly. The Pioneers then held the Mountaineers without a field goal for more than 11 minutes and took a 31-28 halftime lead.
