ROCK HILL, S.C. (AP) -Charles Corbin matched his career-high with 22 points to help Winthrop to an 87-67 win over North Carolina-Asheville on Saturday night.
Winthrop (4-12, 3-4 Big South Conference) had four players score in double figures for the first time this season, and shot 62.5 percent from the field for the game.
Cameron Stanley and Andre Jones each scored 13, and Reggie Middleton chipped in 11.
Matt Dickey led the Bulldogs (8-10, 4-3) with 23 points.
The Eagles limited Asheville’s leading scorer Reid August to 12 points. August entered the game averaging 15.8 points a game and shooting 58 percent from the floor against conference opponents.
The 87 points scored by the Eagles is the highest total by a Randy Peele-coached Winthrop squad, and are the most scored since an 80-70 road win at Virginia Military Institute on Feb 28 of last year.
