Isaiah Wong scored 14 of his 21 points in the second half on Friday to rally Miami to a 69-63 win over North Texas in the ESPN Events Invitational. The Hurricanes (4-2) trailed by as many was 14 in the first half and were down 40-28 at the break. An early 7-0 burst featuring a Wong 3-pointer got Miami close and then a 9-0 run produced a 52-48 lead with 11:39 to play. Jordan Miller scored at the basket to start and end the run and Charlie Moore contributed a 3-pointer, capping a stretch when Miami made 10 of 11 shots.
Alabama Crimson Tide Game Notes
Alabama (4-1) got 19 points from Jaden Shackelford. Quinerly added 15. There was no immediate postgame media session with the Crimson Tide because they held a lengthy meeting after the loss. Joiner hit a 3 to put Iona up 69-65, but Shackelford connected from long range to make it a one-point game with 56 seconds to go. Joseph made two free throws during an 11-3 run to give Iona a 59-57 advantage. Alabama’s Darius Miles responded with a layup, but Jolly made a 3 to put Iona back ahead 62-59 at the 4-minute mark. Shackelford’s 3 put Alabama ahead 54-48.
